"Anything's possible if you try.
Dreams are made if people try."
From the time he was very young, Terry Fox liked
to finish what he started. He always wanted to
do his best. So at the age of 18, when his right
leg was amputated, he worked hard to recover. Right
from the beginning, he was determined to find a
way to beat cancer-for all the children he had
met who were fighting the disease. And right from
the beginning, he had a dream - to run across Canada
to raise money for cnacner research.
Here is Terry's story of hope.
Created in co-operation with the Terry Fox Foundation
and Terry Fox's family, this is the first authorized
biography ever written specifically for young readers
and is being published in conjunction with the
25th anniversary of the Marathon of Hope. Dozens
of colour photographs -- many from the family's
own collection -- and simple text by Maxine Trottier
combine to tell the story of Terry's legacy. The
book tells about Terry's attempt to run across
Canada and raise awareness and money for cancer
research, but also describes his life before he
lost his leg to cancer and how he grew up loving
sports and was always determined to finish what
he started. The author's royalties and a matching
donation from the publisher will be donated to
the Terry Fox Foundation.

"Such familiar images, accompanied by
the simple telling of Fox's hopes and dreams
as an average kid, and then as an earnest
young man raising awareness and money for
cancer research, provide lasting inspiration." Barbara
